Hargeisa, Somaliland – The Gu 2025 Seasonal Climate Outlook warns of below-average rainfall and above-normal temperatures across Somaliland, raising serious concerns over worsening drought conditions.

According to the forecast, these harsh climate patterns are likely to severely impact food security, limit water availability, and threaten livestock survival—key pillars of livelihoods in the region. The outlook highlights the growing vulnerability of rural communities and signals a potential increase in humanitarian needs in the coming months.

Experts caution that without urgent preparedness and mitigation efforts, the projected weather conditions could compound existing challenges and trigger a deeper crisis. Authorities and aid agencies are being urged to coordinate early interventions to minimize the impact on the most affected populations.
