Mogadishu – The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, in partnership with ECOHUB Somalia and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), hosted a major event in Mogadishu to commemorate World Environment Day 2025.

The event was held under the global theme “Beat Plastic Pollution.”

Held at the EC-Hub facility in Howl-Wadaag District, the event brought together senior government officials, youth leaders, artists, and environmental stakeholders for a day of technical discussions, public awareness activities, and creative exhibitions.

The programme emphasized air pollution and climate resilience, with Somali artists showcasing innovative work that fused environmental advocacy with local creativity.

Youth participants and civil society leaders also contributed to dialogue on sustainable environmental solutions.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive and sustained climate action, calling environmental protection a national duty that demands unified efforts from all sectors of society.
