Over 1,000 trees have been planted across schools in Mogadishu as part of the Green Schools campaign, an initiative led by Somalia’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
The campaign empowered students to take tangible climate action through tree planting and environmental education.
Officials say the effort not only promotes greener learning spaces but also builds a generation committed to environmental stewardship.
“This is a step toward a more resilient and sustainable Somalia,” the ministry noted.
The campaign continues to expand, with plans to reach more regions and schools in the coming months.
