This latest Emergency Trends Tracking round began in February 2025 to observe displacement patterns during the Jilaal dry season. DTM teams have gathered information in 25 districts since February 2025: Afgooye, Afmadow, Baardheere, Baidoa, Balcad, Belet Weyne, Belet Xaawo, Bu’Aale, Bulo Burto, Cabudwaaq, Dayniile, Dhuusamarreeb, Diinsoor, Doolow, Gaalkacyo, Garoowe, Hodan, Jamaame, Jowhar, Kahda, Kismaayo, Luuq, Qansax Dheere, Waajid, and Xudur.

Funding constraints reduced data collection to 15 districts in July 2025 and further to five districts starting week 26 (August 23-27, 2025). Operational difficulties in locating these districts caused a data collection gap between August 2-20, 2025. From week 26, information gathering continued in five priority districts: Baidoa, Dayniile, Diinsoor, Doolow, and Kahda.

During this reporting period (October-December 2025), DTM teams documented 53,877 new arrivals across 5,694 settlements (83% urban and 17% rural, including 4,452 IDP sites) in the five districts where DTM was active. Most displacements were drought-induced (56%), followed by conflict (41%), eviction (3%), floods, and other natural hazards (each <1%).
