This guidance offers a structured framework for SHF-eligible partners to develop high-quality, evidence-based nutrition project proposals in line with Somalia’s national guidelines, Nutrition Cluster standards, and SHF requirements. It focuses on designing cost-effective, contextually appropriate, and SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) projects that deliver impactful, life-saving interventions. Proposals must demonstrate value for money and contribute to a coordinated, accountable, and efficient humanitarian nutrition response. All partners should fully comply with this guidance to ensure a transparent and rigorous project review process.
Somalia faces one of the world’s longest protracted humanitarian crises, driven by conflict, insecurity, droughts, floods, and disease outbreaks, which have devastated public health, nutrition, and WASH systems. High rates of Global Acute Malnutrition (GAM) persist across the country. The Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) provides critical, flexible support to address urgent needs of vulnerable populations through lifesaving nutrition interventions. The Nutrition Cluster supports SHF by prioritizing funding, ensuring projects are evidence-based, needs-driven, and aligned with the Prevention of Post-Distribution Aid Diversion (PDAD) framework. SHF-funded projects aim to save lives, protect dignity, and strengthen community resilience.
