Mogadishu – Somalia’s Acting Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama today officially inaugurated the National Environment and Climate Change Summit in Mogadishu.

The launch marks a significant step in the country’s efforts to tackle environmental challenges and promote climate resilience.

The summit brings together key stakeholders including government officials, civil society organizations, youth activists, and business leaders.

Discussions will center on promoting sustainable development, strengthening Somalia’s resilience to climate change, and aligning national policies with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In his opening remarks, Deputy PM Jama emphasized the importance of a unified national approach, stating, “The climate crisis demands bold action and inclusive collaboration. Somalia is committed to building a green and sustainable future for the next generation.”

The multi-day summit will feature expert panels, workshops, and policy sessions aimed at shaping a long-term climate strategy for Somalia.
