The Minister of Environment and Climate Change for Somalia’s Federal Government, Major General Bashir Mohamed Jama, conducted an official visit to the Ministry of Defence headquarters, where he received a warm welcome from Defence Minister H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi and senior leadership of the Somali National Army (SNA).

During the meeting, Minister Bashir praised the Defence Ministry and SNA Command for their effective management of an environmentally friendly compound. He stressed that both entities are key allies in advancing environmental conservation, pointing out that an eco-conscious setting is crucial for intellectuals and strategists involved in military planning and national defense.

The Minister emphasized that a sustainable and healthy environment fosters clear thinking and creativity, which are fundamental to rebuilding the Somali National Army and improving operations against extremist elements.

In response, Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi thanked his counterpart for the visit and highlighted the robust cooperation between their ministries. He stressed the need to further enhance joint efforts to achieve common objectives in national security and sustainable environmental development.

This visit demonstrates the Federal Government’s dedication to merging ecological protection with national security strategies, understanding that sustainable progress and peace are interconnected.
