A ministerial forum for coordination, consultation, and cooperation convened today in Mogadishu, bringing together Somalia’s Federal Ministry of Environment and Climate Change with environment ministries from Federal Member States.

The session, presided over by Federal Environment and Climate Change State Minister Ahmed Omar, saw participation from environment ministers representing Galmudug, Hirshabelle, Southwest, and North East regions.

Ministers evaluated outcomes and resolutions from the Directors General meeting held on February 7, 2026, deliberating extensively on technical recommendations aimed at bolstering cooperation, improving institutional collaboration, and consolidating climate change response efforts.

After thorough deliberations, the ministers formally approved all consensus points from the Directors General meeting, stressing the necessity of implementing these decisions according to Somalia’s national environmental and climate change strategy.
