Mr. Ahmed Omar Mohamed, State Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, today launched the Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting for the initiative “Conserving Terrestrial and Marine Biodiversity and Restoring Ecosystem Services in Globally Relevant and Vulnerable Sites in Somalia.”
The gathering centered on project advancements, strategic direction, and intensifying measures to preserve terrestrial and marine biodiversity while restoring ecosystem functions in vital locations throughout Somalia.
According to Mr. Ahmed Omar Mohamed, the initiative carries substantial value for environmental resilience, community welfare, and sustainable development nationwide. He also called upon all participating entities and stakeholders to cooperate in protecting natural assets and improving ecosystem services.
The initiative concentrates on essential terrestrial and marine regions featuring globally important biodiversity and susceptible to climate change and human-related pressures. It is anticipated that the initiative will produce concrete results in environmental rehabilitation, wildlife preservation, and the economic advancement of local populations.
