Somalia’s House of the People convened at its headquarters for a regular session focused on the First Reading of two significant Draft Bills from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. These bills are crucial for creating and reinforcing national institutions.

The session was presided over by the Speaker of the House, Hon. Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur, with the Second Deputy Speaker and the Chief Whip also present.

The session’s agenda included the First Reading of these Draft Bills:
– The Draft Bill on the Establishment of the Somali Meteorological and Climate Services Authority
– The Draft Bill on the Establishment of the National Environmental Management Authority

Hon. Major General Bashir Mohamed Jama, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, presented the bills to the House, offering comprehensive details about their goals, importance, and how these laws will contribute to environmental protection, meteorological and climate services, and the formation of essential state institutions.
