This week, the Chairman of the Board of the Somali Green Energy Association (SOGEA) delivered a keynote address at the official launch of the European Union-Somali Investment, Trade, and Business Platform (ITBP)—a bold and timely initiative designed to deepen economic collaboration between Somali enterprises and European stakeholders.
In his remarks, the Chairman underscored that green energy and sustainable development in Somalia are not aspirations for the distant future but urgent and tangible opportunities for transformation. He highlighted Somalia’s immense potential in harnessing renewable resources—from abundant solar and wind energy to cutting-edge off-grid technologies—as catalysts for inclusive economic growth and climate resilience.
Representing the nation’s umbrella organization for renewable energy, SOGEA announced its formal endorsement of the ITBP and pledged its unwavering support. With more than 30% of SOGEA member firms already engaged with European partners, the ITBP provides a timely platform to expand these linkages, attract investment, and scale innovation.
SOGEA and its partners look forward to leveraging this strategic partnership to champion clean energy initiatives, facilitate the transfer of green technologies, and build resilient energy infrastructure across Somalia. The collaboration marks a critical step forward in unlocking the full potential of a greener, more interconnected Somali economy—powered by sustainable energy and driven by global cooperation.
