At the 4th Arab Ministerial Session on Meteorology & Climate in Cairo, Somalia’s State Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Ahmed Omar Mohamed, highlighted the critical need for enhanced regional collaboration to address shared climate threats.

Mohamed underscored Somalia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its climate resilience, including the finalization of legislation to establish a National Meteorology & Climate Agency. This new institution will significantly improve weather forecasting, early warning systems, and disaster preparedness. Additionally, specialized training programs are already being implemented to build local expertise and boost adaptive capacity.

The minister’s remarks reinforced the importance of unified Arab action in combating climate risks and advancing sustainable solutions.
