Mogadishu, Somalia — Somalia’s Ministry of Environment & Climate Change will host the National Climate Outlook Forum (NCOF) 2025 on September 2–3 in Mogadishu, bringing together government, humanitarian agencies, and experts to address worsening climate impacts.
Somalia is one of the world’s most vulnerable countries to climate change, facing erratic rainfall, droughts, floods, and environmental degradation. The upcoming forum will share seasonal forecasts, strengthen early warning systems, and coordinate responses to food insecurity, health risks, and displacement.
Despite new global funding for “loss and damage,” Somali officials warn support is often delayed. The country is also investing in local resilience measures such as rainwater harvesting, solar-powered boreholes, and climate-smart farming.
The meeting is expected to align national policies and humanitarian efforts, seen as crucial in a nation where millions remain at risk from climate shocks.
