Mogadishu, Somalia – The Federal Government of Somalia has officially launched its National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and presented key progress on its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) 3.0, marking a significant step in the country’s efforts to tackle the impacts of climate change.

The NAP outlines a comprehensive roadmap to strengthen Somalia’s resilience to climate-related challenges such as droughts, floods, and food insecurity. It prioritizes sectors including agriculture, water, health, and disaster risk reduction, with a strong focus on protecting vulnerable communities.

Meanwhile, the NDC 3.0 update highlights Somalia’s ongoing and future commitments to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable development, in line with the Paris Agreement.

Launching the initiatives in Mogadishu, senior government officials emphasized the urgency of climate action and called on international partners for increased support.

The new strategies are part of Somalia’s broader vision for sustainable growth and environmental protection, aligning with both national development goals and international climate frameworks.
