On Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama chaired a strategic meeting centered on climate change, food security, and the rollout of Somalia’s National Transformation Plan (NTP) for the period 2025–2029.

The high-level gathering brought together senior government officials, technical experts, and development partners to align national priorities with urgent climate and food resilience goals.

The meeting underscored the federal government’s commitment to implementing long-term, sustainable development policies amid growing environmental and humanitarian challenges.

Deputy PM Jama emphasized the urgency of integrated action, stating, “Climate change and food insecurity are interlinked crises that threaten the well-being of our people and the stability of our nation. The NTP 2025–2029 offers a clear framework to transform our economy, empower communities, and protect our environment.”

The meeting featured progress reviews on climate adaptation measures, the expansion of climate-resilient agricultural practices, and strategies to strengthen national food systems.

Participants also discussed enhanced coordination across ministries and with international partners to ensure timely and effective implementation of the NTP.

The NTP 2025–2029 is a comprehensive roadmap aimed at guiding Somalia toward peace, stability, and prosperity, with climate action and food security as central pillars. The government has pledged to ensure that no region or community is left behind in the country’s path to inclusive development.
