Mogadishu, Somalia – The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, in partnership with UNICEF, hosted a landmark workshop engaging Somali youth and children today.
Participants were engaged in discussions on the country’s first National Environmental and Climate Action Engagement Plan.
The workshop sought to amplify the voices of young people in shaping Somalia’s climate policies and environmental future.
Participants explored their roles in climate resilience, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
Officials emphasized the importance of youth inclusion in national climate strategies, noting that the new plan will ensure that children and young people are both informed and actively involved in environmental action.
“This initiative is a crucial step towards building a climate-conscious generation,” said a ministry spokesperson.
The event marks a new chapter in youth-centered climate engagement, laying the groundwork for inclusive policy implementation across Somalia.
